Raclette Cheese

Collection Description

Step into the heart of Alpine tradition with our Raclette Cheese Collection — a celebration of one of the most beloved cheeses of Switzerland and France. More than just an ingredient, raclette is a centuries-old culinary ritual, designed to bring people together around the table. Its very name comes from the French word racler, meaning “to scrape,” referring to the classic method of melting the cheese and scraping it over warm, comforting accompaniments.

Raclette is a semi-hard cow’s milk cheese with a smooth, pale yellow paste and a delicate rind. What makes it truly special is its remarkable melting quality: when gently heated, it transforms into a silky, creamy blanket of flavour without separating into oil. Its taste is mild yet complex — nutty, buttery, slightly sweet with earthy undertones — and it pairs beautifully with potatoes, cured meats, crusty bread, and pickled vegetables.

Origins & Identity

  • Traditionally, raclette cheese comes from the Valais region of Switzerland, where it enjoys AOP / PDO status (Raclette du Valais).

  • It is also produced in regions of France (Savoie, Franche-Comté) and in other countries emulating Alpine techniques.

  • Crafted from cow’s milk, often raw or thermized in more traditional varieties, the milk used comes from cows grazing on high-pasture grasses in summer and hay in winter — contributing to raclette’s characteristic aromas.
