About Lutti
Lutti is a French confectionery brand with roots in the French sweets tradition. The brand is now part of Katjes International, a German confectionery group, which acquired Lutti and several other European sweets brands. Lutti specialises in the fizzy, acidulated and chewy sweet formats that are a strong tradition in French confectionery — sweets that combine a sugar exterior coating (fizzy, acidulated or sugared) with a soft gummy or chewy interior. The Lutti range covers bag sweets for sharing or individual consumption across children's and adult formats.
BestFizz Range
- Lutti BestFizz 350g: Lutti's BestFizz range is an assortment of acidulated (sour/fizzy-coated) gummy sweets — gelatine-based gummies with a sour sugar coating, in a mix of fruit shapes and flavours. Available in a 350g bag and a larger BestFizz Box 550g (tub format for sharing).
Fizzy Strings and Tubes
- Lutti Scoubidou 200g: long, twisted candy strings in strawberry flavour — a format taking its name from the plaited craft cord. Scoubidou sweets are a classic French children's confectionery format.
- Lutti ScoubiFizz 180g: the acidulated/sour variant of the Scoubidou strings — fizzy-coated twisted candy strings.
- Lutti Fili Tubs Strawberry 200g: colourful chewy candy strings (fili = thread/string) in strawberry flavour in a tub format.
- Lutti Fili Tubs XL 180g: an assortment of sour tubes in XL size with a soft centre.
- Lutti FlexiFizz 225g: an assortment of long, chewy candy belts with a sour, fizzy coating in a mix of fruit flavours.
- Lutti LongFizz 200g: long-lasting effervescent candy — a fizzy, chewy format.
- Lutti SurfFizz 200g: surfboard-shaped sour gummy sweets in fruit flavours — an acidulated gummy format.
Bubblizz and Arlequin
- Lutti Bubblizz 300g: fizzy bottle-shaped gummy sweets — pink and blue bottles with a fizzy sugar coating.
- Lutti Arlequin Candies 250g: the Arlequin is a classic Lutti format — a small, hard-shelled fruity sweet with a unique, debated flavour profile: neither fully sour, nor fully sweet, with a characteristic fruit flavour that defies easy description. One of Lutti's long-standing products.
Koala Guimauve
- Lutti Koala Candies 185g: koala-shaped soft guimauve (marshmallow-style) sweets with a milk filling. Guimauve is the French marshmallow tradition — softer and lighter than gummy sweets, with a melt-in-the-mouth texture. The Koala sweets are a popular children's format.
Mint and Freshness Sweets
- Lutti Mint Original 250g: a striped hard mint sweet — Luttimint — with an intense fresh mint flavour and a blue colouring from brilliant blue dye.
- Lutti Menthisé aux 2 Menthes 250g: a fondant-textured mint sweet combining two mint varieties (double mint) for a layered freshness experience.
Liquorice
- Lutti O'Tablo Fraîcheur Licorice 200g: a soft liquorice sweet with a refreshing note — O'Tablo format with sugar cane molasses and liquorice root extract. The Fraîcheur (freshness) variant blends the deep, slightly aniseed character of liquorice with a cooling effect.

Lutti FAQs
What makes acidulated sweets different from standard gummy sweets?
Acidulated sweets (bonbons acidulés) are coated in a mixture of citric acid and sugar — this sour outer layer is what produces the characteristic sharp, tingling sensation at the front of the mouth before sweetness takes over. Standard gummy sweets without acidulation are simply gelatine or pectin-based with flavouring and sugar, without the sour coating. Most of the Lutti fizzy range — BestFizz, FlexiFizz, ScoubiFizz, SurfFizz — uses this acidulated coating approach. The "fizzy" effect in sweets is typically produced by citric acid reacting with the saliva.
What is guimauve?
Guimauve (French for mallow, from the marshmallow plant Althaea officinalis) is the French name for a soft, aerated confection. Modern guimauve is made from sugar syrup, gelatine and often a flavouring — beaten to incorporate air — producing a light, elastic texture that melts in the mouth. French guimauve is typically finer and lighter than American-style marshmallow, closer to an aerated nougat. The Lutti Koala candies use a guimauve-style body with a milk-cream filling inside a shell.
